Masahiro Nakata is a Japanese jewellery and found object artist. He jumped into jewellery design teaching himself wax modelling and making silver accessories after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in science, technology, electronic engineering and computer science college of Osaka Prefecture University. After several years, Masahiro decided to apply for studying in Goldsmith Department of Itami College of Jewellery, and whereafter participated in the exchange programme of Hochschule Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. After studying and doing experiments in Germany, he started to find his exclusive design language. Masahiro coordinates his technical background with jewellery craft, striving for pushing the boundary and thereby uncovering new methods of jewellery design. In order to achieve this, he has built multiple computer programs and even his own 3D printer, to make the impossible possible. With never-ending curiosity, he is currently focusing on and experimenting with jewellery.
Masahiro had participated in Hong Kong International Jewelry Show organized by Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association for four editions. At present, he is also employed as a guest teacher in Hong Kong School of Design.
